Gwilym to play with Dave Holland in four “double bill” concerts at Ambleside Festival
The brand new Ambleside Festival will feature Dave Holland, Norma Winstone, Tim Garland, Asaf Sirkis, John Halliwell, Gwilym Simcock, Mike Walker, Nikki Iles, Mark Lockheart, Steve Watts, James Maddren, Darrell Hall and Joe Locke – all musicians inspired by the great British pianist John Taylor. Thomas Gould and Gwilym will play an eclectic mix of Bach, arranged as only Gwilym can, alongside more contemporary jazz pieces. In Manchester they will be appearing at the new Stoller Hall at Chetham’s School of music with Salford guitarist Mike Walker with whom Gwilym plays in The Impossible Gentlemen. In London these three musicians will be joined by bassist Martin Berauer and percussionist Bernhard Schimpelsberger at Thom’s old school UCS in Hampstead. Check Tour dates for details.
Gwilym will be on BBC Radio 4 on Sunday 22nd January at 4 p.m. talking about his latest project “Birdsong” with Welsh singer songwriter Kizzy Crawford. Kizzy Crawford returns to the RSPB nature reserve at Carngafallt in Mid Wales, where she was inspired to create “Can Yr Adar – Birdsong” with Gwilym and members of Sinfonia Cymru. Read More

As part of the BBC Radio 3‘s 70th anniversary Gwilym was chosen to appear on “Composer of the Week” in a live show that was broadcast from the pop up booth at the Royal Festival Hall at London’s Southbank Centre. Find out more here.
