Gwilym plays a reworking of »Move!« for jazz trio and orchestra

In the 9th symphony concert on Sunday, May 15, 2022, at 7 p.m., Gwilym  complete with Conor Chaplin on bass and Martin France on drums and the Symphoniker Hamburg will share the large stage of the Laeiszhalle.

Gwilym created the three-part suite »Move!« in 2011, which is structured by solo interludes – a tremendously energetic, sonorous work, reflecting the present time, with references to both Chick Corea as well as to industrial sounds. Gwilym Simcock reworked the work especially for this concert.

The American conductor Clark Rundell, an expert in the most diverse mixes of styles, who has already recorded “Move!”, conducts the concert, which begins with an orchestration of Claude Debussy’s piano pieces “Préludes” (selection).

The Symphoniker Hamburg will celebrate their 65th anniversary in autumn 2022 and has been the resident orchestra of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg’s first concert hall, the Laeiszhalle, since 2017. They lead the uniquely rich and compelling history of this renowned concert venue into new spheres.
